Hey, I just recently got 2 new chickens that are 2 months old, So they are pretty big. We got them from a friend who has a pen that fits 50 just barely and both the chickens I got have never been touched by human hands. When I got them back to my house and into my coop they went crazy everytime I even got close they started running everywhere and like wouldn't let me even touch them. So I'm wondering if there is still a chance for me to get them so they know who I am and will let me pet them and stuff without jumping off walls. Thanks.

Bribe them with treats...always make slow movements and use a gentle voice. If you can catch (easier in low light) and hold them gently under your arm and walk around with them. When you set them down just walk away - don't try to reach down and pick them up again. Then later, catch (without chasing) one again and do the same thing. With time and patience they will calm down!

Thankyou. I will definitely try.

Wow! Thankyou! They are already easier to walk by me and are a lot calmer now. Thanks!

Yes food is always a great method. I got some pretty big hens about 3 months old and they were very afraid of me. Now two of them are the tamest chicken I have. Just sit near them with some treats like mealworms or cheese (mine went crazy for cheese and I got them tame in a few days with it) and slowly throw small pieces of treats closer and closer to you until they eat from you hand and then soon enough they'll be eating from your lap. Then in no time you'll be able to pick them up and touch them.
