How to Tell a Fertile vs INfertile Egg (Pictures)

Pics
I haven't read all the posts so this may have been asked already. How long after introducing a new rooster are the eggs fertile or fertilized? I was told two weeks.
Within a few days of him mating the hen.......
......which could be immediately if she takes a shine to him or longer if he has to woo(or force) her into submission first.......
......which you might not see unless you're watching all day long, they're quick.
Just start checking the eggs when breaking them to eat.

Put my first eggs in my new incubator... hope I know enough to hatch my lil peeps...
Hello kissnpeeps!

Welcome to the BYC Forum !

There is a ton of info here on incubation. The main thing is to have ACCURATE thermometers and hyrgrometers and to maintain as close to 100 degrees F and days 1-18: 30%-35% humidity (dry hatch) and days 19-21: up to 65-70% humidity. The best temperature readings are internal egg temperatures. You can simulate that scenario with using a thermometer with a remote sensor placed inside one of those kid toys called a water wiggler or get one of those egg o meter thermometers: http://incubatorwarehouse.com/eggometer.html

Also turn the eggs...much easier with an automatic egg turner; until lockdown (stop turning and DO NOT OPEN THE BATOR on Day 18!)

Humidity control can be controlled by using a hygrometer, weighing and candling at certain days and observing the air sac.

All of this information is available on these BYC Forums. And on certain factory bator websites, such as:
https://www.brinsea.com/Brochures/BrinseaHandbook.pdf

Also it is best to only use eggs from good seasoned stock hens,,,,not young pullet eggs. And to not wash the eggs.

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR FIRST HATCH!!!

You guys are AMAZING! My Silkie went broody and from this post, I was able to find out exactly how to check her and my Australorp's eggs. Now, I'll just let her do her thing since she's been brooding on two of hers and she eggnapped my Austra's. LOL

Takes only 3 to 4 days after mating....but not all my hens would mate with my rooster right away. Took a while for some of them to warm up to him.

I'm wondering if the bottom egg in this photo looks fertile. The top egg I'd say yes. The bottom egg looks like more than a white dot, but it doesn't really have a donut look.

Thanks for any advice!
