I get some splotchy yolks too....could just be a glitch... or frozen but not cracked will do weird things to the yolks.
Clear glass dish good idea!Because I'm a little nutty about my girls' eggs, I like to check them out- weigh them, check for fertility and yes, photograph them. Here's a great way to check fertility - clear glass bowl so you can check under the yolk for the blastocyst and bullseye.
In this image the bullseye is blurry because I couldn't get my camera to focus on it, but it is a clear one.
