How to tell if eggs are fertilized

I was told that if you gather your eggs everyday you dont have to worry about them getting fertilized. Is this true. Please help.

If you have a rooster...they are most likely fertile.....

the egg is fertilized before it is laid not after. but there is a post about fertility on here somewhere.
