How To Tell Males From Females?

I forgot to mention, we have the Buff Orp.'s and we did order 23 females, and 2 males. I did not make it so far. :-(

Milezone - If my college biology holds up, the vent is the "rear-end" opening on the chicken's backside. It's the opening of the cloaca, the tube which receives genital, digestive and metabolic matter. The vent is the last thing poop sees as it leaves the host.

I love that description! It's perfect.

I agree with a previous poster - split up the order willy-nilly, and in five weeks or so, it will start to be apparent who are the roos. Initial cue: reddening of comb before the majority of the other chicks. Then if you're still not sure, wait many more weeks and keep your ear ready to hear some unearthly beginner-crows.
