Thank you all so much. The support does make it easier to deal with.
As far as I've heard so far there are no deaths in this general area reported yet but many injuries and several dozen homes destroyed and the hospital is closed to all except emergency personel and vehicles because the roads all around it are flooded. About a third of the roads are closed due to downed trees, power lines and flash-floods.
We were very blessed, the tornado was HUGE, I could see it in the flashes of lightning but it was in the air over us, touched down on either side but sorta jumped over us. The other chickens, horse, dogs, cats, and other stock are all ok. Wet and miserable, but ok.
I'm weird, because I love watching summer thunderstorms. There is just such a majesty and awesome power that somehow makes me feel humble and close to God, but this was a bit much. ok, a whole lot much!
BTW, I've had a few PM's about being strong and seeing the good in things like this. I'm not strong... I'm a farmer. It's just another one of those things that we all have to deal with. I've done my cussing, said my prayers and cryed it out. Now it's time to get up off my butt and get to work cleaning up, fixing up and rebuilding. It's just a part of life. My loved ones are all safe and everything else can be replaced or rebuilt. I'm headed out to help my neighbors get thier drives and houses cleaned off and then go see what else I can find to help out with.
Thanks again, and I hope everyone else is doing ok too.
