How to treat a broken leg.

I have a 10 week old chicken that hurt her leg. Her left ankle feels different that the other. How can I tell if it is broken or dislocated? She won't put weight on it and is just laying on her side.

It was right on the ankle joint so thought it was dislocated but when my husband tried to pop it back into place it would just flop back out. We put it in a splint but she kept moving around the small cage and messed it up I think. There's a big bump on the joint and she won't put weight on it still. We are not sure what to do with her now. It's been 2 weeks... :(

Ours died this morning

I'm not sure what is wrong this was the second one from this lady that I got so I'm sad this was one out of 3. They were barred rock chickens and we only have one left :/ and her toes on one foot curl so I'm not sure what was wrong. She was like 9 weeks old now. I'm thinking she had some
Sort of sickness or something I'm not sure. We are more than likely gonna go get some more chickens from somewhere.

I'm sorry. :(
Ours was curling her toes too, my husband put her foot in a splint to keep them straight. Now we took it all off and her toes stay straight but she just isn't using that leg at all she is eating and drinking and hops around on one foot. :s

Our little girl, who I have been calling Toes, because they curl, and she walks around just fine, so I am not going to bother with them. But We lost another one last night, because It got colder than my hubby thought She was my only brown Easter egg chick, but we still have more and a roo, we are going to get more today, Toes, was being a mother hen to all the little ones, I guess they were all around her and she had her wings around them, so that is good that my two rhode islands, and then the one last Barred rock,(Toes) so they are all inside now, I Live in florida, and it got down into the 40s so it was cold. But by tomorrow it will be back into the 70s and then the 80s by Christmas. I am so addicted to having chickens!

Hi, I have a hen who has a broken leg from the hock. I can move it very easily forward and backwards. Looks like there's no feeling in the leg at all. What can I do? Thanks

Hi there! I am new here but love reading all the cool stuff on BYC. I have a girl about 4 months old who had a brick fall on her foot. It is greenish-blue and the middle toe is crooked. I have her separated and have been giving her water with a bit of gin from a syringe by hand to keep her calm and still. Two days later she has a fever in the site. I am unable to get her to a vet and am wondering if there is a way to bring her fever down and protect her foot. I have antibiotics that I just began administering. Thanks to all!
