How to Treat Coccidia and Giardia?

I've given SMZ-TMP to a RIR hen that had a severe case of coccidiosis and it cleared up in 3 days. The dosage was 1/4 tablet given orally 2 times a day for 5 days and she weighed about 5 pounds, maybe a little less.
There wasnt any side effects that I noticed.
After my comment I ended up ordering Metronidazole and Toltrazuril, the SMZTMP is sold out everywhere I looked.

Yesterday I asked the vet to transfer my birds information to my old vet Dr. Smith by email, they said they would as soon as I sent them back the document they had me sign.

I called today and asked if they had, this is what the vet tech told me “legally we don’t have to for 5 days.”

I’m not playing this game anymore.

In five days if Dr. Smith calls in a prescription for me for the SMZ/TMP I’ll get it just to have around.

Fortunately we dont have that nonsense here. My brother lives in California and tells me about all the crazy stuff Californians have to deal with, not to mention the taxes. He's going to be moving over here in a couple of years.

I’ve heard the vets near the coast are excellent, higher population density so the riff raff probably can’t stay in business by comparison. Over here in the foothills there are few vets that will see “poultry” so there aren’t many options and people have to just take whatever garbage gets thrown their way, not just with again/exotic vets though, vets in general.

Growing up the majority of vets used to all be farm vets in northern CA, they saw and treated all. The last decade they’re all new specialists, I have around 40 vets in a 100 mile radius and only 5 see “poultry,” 2 are incompetent, 2 are predatory, and 1 never seems to be around, so I have no idea if they’re good or not. My normal vet Dr. Smith is three hours away, she’s one of the last of the old school vets.
The rest of the vets see cats and dogs, only three I know of see horses. There’s a woman who advertises herself around here as a mobile farm vet but she only sees Pygmy goats, not standard sized goats, just the pygmy goats. How does a farm vet only see one breed?

The vet I’m now done with told me over the phone that I’d have to drive to Sacramento if I needed blood drawn from my geese because it’s highly technical and they need anesthesia to have their blood drawn.
I’ve assisted Dr. Smith when getting blood drawn from my geese in the past, I held them while she drew blood, it took 7 seconds and they didn’t require anesthesia.
