Your chickens have yet to think for themselves is what you’re saying?Good grief, the chickens here don't get lice, or mites. They're not American you know.
Permethrin as advised by a vet.![]()

I’m just joking with shadrach and I believe he knows it. If you don’t like it report me. I don’t particularly care.Well good for you.
This thread wasn’t made to bash nationalities, just so you know...
Tbh I'm not sure. I saw some for sale and having read a bit about it decided to give it a try.@Shadrach if the permethrin dust was working why are you interested in using Ivermectin?
I think some breed with thicker legs and wider scales are more susceptible to them. Once healthy keeping their legs wiped down with pretty much any kind of oil should prevent them in the future. I use baby oil.Tbh I'm not sure. I saw some for sale and having read a bit about it decided to give it a try.
I have one rooster that picks up scaly leg mite like a magnet. I thought perhaps treating him with Ivermectin might give me a head start and from then on using Vaseline on a regular basis might keep it under control.
He had a bad infestation last year. I've not worked out where he picks them up. None of his hens get it and his coop gets regular attention with the blow torch; nothing lives after that.I think some breed with thicker legs and wider scales are more susceptible to them.
