How to Treat Scaly Leg Mites

Pics
Yes. I do it every single time I have a bird in my hands unless I’ve just done it within a few days. It only takes two seconds.
You need to completely cover her legs with Vaseline. Rub your hand upwards and make sure the lifted scales are totally packed full. She should look ridiculous with so much Vaseline on her legs or it isn’t going to work. You’ll also need to do it often.
OR you could dip her legs in kerosene then pack them with Vaseline if you really want the mites gone.
What if the chicken tries to eat the Vaseline?

I would like to offer a tried and true suggestion. I’ve only had one chicken with leg mites...she was a rescue girl. By the time I got her, it was pretty bad. I slather NuStock all up and down the legs. I will never be without the stuff! It works great! It’s jusr pine tar and sulfur. It’s anti bacterial, anti fungal..I’ve used it on all my animals...including cats! You might have to do two, treatments, but it cleared up my chickens legs.

No you can apply the Vaseline a little while later once mostly dry. You need to really lather it on. Might have to get more Vaseline at the store. A couple containers. Don’t blame me if you get funny looks!
What I would like to see are before and after pictures from all of the methods suggested, mine included. I'm not trying to be snarky, I really am interested in seeing how they work and how long it takes to go from nasty looking legs to normal legs
how can you tell if they have leg mites? Here is a picture of my sons Brahma rooster. He is 5 months old and he has lost the feathers on his feet and it will bleed.
