How to trim guinea pig nails?

Both our guinea pigs need their nails trimmed, but one when we tried bit us so hard that it broke the skin. How do I get them to be calm enough to trim their nails?

you can try swaddling them in a blanket.
The easiest, way, though, is to just get them used to being handled. Pick them up and just touch their feet for a couple seconds then let them go. Once they are good with this, start clipping 1 nail every day. After they are patient with that, clip 2 nails and then stop.
It makes for a much less stressful time.

If you can't get their nails trimmed, you could always take them to the vet's and have them do it.

i have a similar problem...i usually gently stroke my pigs' bellies to calm them down a bit, and then take slow movements. this seems to be effective
