Seeing as its strucjk and interest i decided to write a quick photoshop tutorial on how to get closeups from digital photographs

So here goes

First open Photoshop and open the image to be edited

First things first is duplicate layer, this is done by right clicking the image and duplicate

Then you want to select the area to closeup. This is done with the Marquee tool. Select Circle by right clicking

place mouse in first corner point and click mouse and drag to size teh circle

once done right click inside the circle and Layer via copy. That will create a copy of the Marquee area

Duplicate that Layer you made by right clicking and duplicate layer

Now click on fx bottom right and click on stroke

Select your colour leave the rest as is

your area will have a border,

next step is to select the duplacted layer (copy) and drag it to where you want it to be (it can be moved again later)

Then press CTRL+T (Windows PC) or CMD+T (Mac PC). This is the free transform tool

Click on any small square and drag to enlarge the image to your required size

Repeat stroke step

then you need to create the line so go to the shape tool right click and select line

create your lines from point to point

you should be left with this image

Last thing to do is crop the image using the crop tool

and theats it your done

here is the final image

any questiions please ask

Thanks for posting that. I'd have to learn all over again because I've not used PS for years. I take the simple way out.

I use Picasa 3 for editing images. I know it isn't as good as PS though. This is how I make a closeup using Picasa 3.

Open image in Picasa3. Pick image you want to edit. Then click on the crop tab.

Using your cursor drag it over the image while holding left mouse button and you will see lines appear. Drag mouse to create the smaller image from the bigger full image.

Once completed click the apply tab located bottom of left side tabs. Click file>save image, Give a new name to image. Finished!

With Gimp I just select the area I want, crop it, then scale it. I'm unsure why this would be such a complicated process in Photoshop.

To get what the original tutorial has done, you can basically do the same thing but use new layers and paste the scaled image on to the original and the shapes tool to make the outlines
