Guide How to Upload Pictures/Attachments/Images to the new BYC

Maybe it is just me, but using the "upload file" command when you click the photo icon in the tool bar is problematic....even if the photos are from your old albums (now brought over to the new BYC).

If you have just one photo, it works pretty well, but more than one photo is very problematic. It loads the first photo, usually into the main post box, then loads the second below in the attachment queue...then it doesn't allow you to edit text neatly to explain your photos.

Trying to upload from the computer is not straight forward either. It does the same thing as immediately placing the first photo into the post reply box, but additional photos into the attachment queue...or all photos into the attachment queue. You then have to close your photo upload box to check your work with "preview", but you get a weird i-frame below that doesn't allow for easy editing for those photo placements or order.

In end up cancelling or deleting the whole post and placing comments in series...awkward!

What am I missing?

What browser are you using?
Do you know how to take a screen shot?

I just tried the upload a file button and it worked properly for me.
I'd like to "see" (screenshot) what you are talking about.

I'm using Chrome Version 64.0.3282.167 (Official Build) (64-bit)

I don't have a problem when it is just one photo. It works as you stated. It is when I have multiple photos it gets glitchy (or I am dense).

I'll test below to see what happens again...the issue is once I enter into the photo load process it gets hard to modify my post, or my photo choices.

This test is using the photo icon then choosing from my photo album stored at BYC.

I chose one photo, and it loads below beautifully the moment I click on the photo....and then the photo menu disappears as soon as the photo loads. Trying to get back in to get that SECOND photo to also load into the post box is where the problem lies.

Below, is the first photo loaded, then the photo menu disappeared as soon as I clicked on the photo.

Now I'll try to load TWO photos.

(BTW, I'm using Windows 10 with Chrome)....nope as soon as I click that first photo, it immediately loads and was inserted in post below. (My pretty Easter Egg carton)


I can't seem to get below that photo to type and then attach the next photo from my album library. I'll try the second insert here using the photo icon again.

Okay...that loaded on top of the first photo...so if I remember to load the last photo first, then reverse order, I should be able to get a sequential string of photos from my library...which is a bit odd....but okay....that is using the photo icon from the tool bar.

First photo loaded which immediately set at bottom with no replacement possible.

My Gold Star/Barnevelder....hoping to capture the GS beautiful terra cotta eggs to add to the Barnevelder genes. We'll see :D

Okay...a new feature popped up in the last effort...all my photos appeared in "Your Media" and I clicked on one (cute little chick) and it inserted that in the post above in arbitrary? place.

I guess my issue with the photo feature is I cannot seem to predict where a photo will load for placement from my media library.....and "Your Media" is the first time, as of today, I've seen that appear....so I'll click a few more of those into this post.

Second photo clicked on "Your Media"...wow this is inserting in my chosen order with ability to insert with comment, sequentially,

The pullet Marans eggs...about a 5 and 4 respectively on the Marans scale

Now "Your Media" of all my photos in my stored album is taking up half my post...

Oh....I just figured it out....I had pressed the "camera" icon in the tool bar...is THAT how you get to your stored media? Although I'm not crazy that all the information about the photo also is posted, and it looks a bit weird.

And now an upload from my computer, Windows 10, using Chrome....

Clicking the photo icon (not camera icon), then choosing file upload....


Now with that....I can only choose one photo at a time which loads into the photo bar at the bottom of the post, in reverse stacking order, without ability to load into post box or make comment about photo.

I simply get a stack of thumbnails at the bottom of my post.

Sorry if this is just me, and I know I have to learn to use the system, but this isn't exactly intuitive. I didn't see a tutorial anywhere to learn how to do this, which is what led me to this thread.

Thanks for all you guys do to keep this forum running and overall working very well...even if some of us are not the brightest bird in the coop.

I jsut clicked on UPLOAD A FILE button and selected a photo from my computer.
See below I have the option to INSERT as a THUMBNAIL OR FULL IMAGE.
Where ever my cursor is in this reply box is where that photo will insert.

I don't use the camera button.
Here is what it looks like if I choose to insert full image:

After choosing to insert full image above I hit enter to get below that picture to type this and next I am going to choose to insert thumbnail:

Next I am going to drag a screen shot I just took from my desktop right into this box and drop it here: (After dragging it and dropping it into this screen I still had to go back and click the insert button.
