So my chicks are 9 days old.. and I just got a bag of Grit so I can start feeding them treats. lol... my question is... how do you feed it ?? do you mix it in w/ the treats or do you mix it in w/ the chick feed, or do you place it in its own feeder??? Also... I have 2 baby pekin ducks, do they need grit to eat treats too ???.. if they do, how should I feed it to them ???

Not sure about the ducsk, but the baby chick grit, I spread it on the floor of the coop, and also offer it on the side - kind of like an appetizer!!

First off, make sure that you bought "chick" grit. It much smaller then chicken grit. I use chick grit until they are about 12 weeks old. Then I switch to regular chicken grit. In the brooder I have the grit sitting in a plastic margarine container on the floor. It is available to them 24 x 7. In the coop for the adult birds I have it in a wall mounted feeder (that I built).

yeah its Chick Grit that I got.... will they know how to use it ?? I know that sounds silly but i had to ask... should I offer them the grit now, before I start giving them treats so they know where it is and what its for??
