How to Vent Sex Coturnix

I know this is an old post, but I tried it today and I "think" I have about 8 roos and 2 pullets. I guess only time will tell.

I do have a question, when doing this where do you put pressure or exactly how do open the vent. I did a combination of small amount of pressure while spreading the vent open.

You basically pull the tail 'up' towards the back.

Probably, but since they are half the size as coturnix at day old it's just easier to wait until they are old enough to tell by color.

Ok so basically it is no squeezing, just carefully pushing the tail towards the back.

ha-ha ithought one of mine was a boy because it was doing boy things but then they both laid a egg! I got 2 girls yea! but i named one Pat because it didn't know it was a girl

guess you could wait to see if it lays an egg then you would know for sure.

THANK YOU!!!!! I have had the hardest time trying to find pictures of vent sexing...Without photos, I don't know what I'm looking for...I've had birds for quite some time & this is my next step up....
