I use warm water and dry them then put them in the fridge. If they are really nasty I use a little soap. I was told that cold water can invite bacteria in, so I just put it on warm, not hot.

Depending on dirtyness, I just rinse and rub with warm water, and put hem in the fridge. Some might disagree, but for me it doesn’t matter if it’s a tiny bit dirty on the shell, as I don’t eat that part!

I don't usually wash them unless I'm about to hard boil, as I don't want debris in the water. In that case I usually use lukewarm water and a scrub brush.
