How was the silkied serama made?

I know this is an old thread but thanks for asking (and providing some answers) everyone!

I wound up with a surprise barred silkie Serama in my last batch of eggs and she sure is something to see! Her feathers are longer and streamier than the actual Silkie I have. I've been trying to find some pics on Google Image Search of a barred silkie Serama but I've only been able to find one of a rooster.

I'm going to have to look up that article on the website. I joined the council last week so if it's there I should be able to find it! IIRC from my own research, they DID use Silkies early on in the breeding process to create the Serama. Don't quote me on it! But I'm pretty sure I remember reading that that was the case.

Here's my little Silkie girl! She and my frizzle Silkie are my most exotic looking ones I've got in my flock so far. Fingers crossed for another Silkie roo to pop up in the next hatch!
