How was your ebay egg hatching process?

I just yesterday rec'd eggs from ThomDean. I got 6 nice blue cochin eggs and 6 nice, large, reasonably dark BC eggs. He sent NO extras. I set them today. Will be glad to post results in 3 weeks. Henz

well i had purchased eggs from two different seller both orders of 6 eggs one seller shipped me 10 eggs of which 5 were no good upon arrival broke or messed up air bubbles and as of day 14 under a broody only 2 developed others were just rotten. the other seller sent me 7 and three were infertile but 4 are growing well and due on the 1st of July. I just purchased bcm eggs from a fellow byc member but i will be getting fresh eggs next week after seeing this hatch out. not very happy with the two ebayers packing abilities.

We purchased a dozen from Thom Dean just this week. Eggs are large, clean and Marans quality in color--not the darkest we've bought, but definitley not the lightest! They were well packed and none were broken. He marked the box "Live Embryos" & "Fragile" and included a NPIP paper, the 1st we've received from any seller, even though many claim that certification.
We've had good and bad experiences with ebay eggs. I'd suggest researching the seller on message boards like BYC, Marans club, yahoo.groups, etc. before buying. Their feedback nearly always pertains to the appearance of the eggs' shells when unwrapped and not on fertility or hatch rates. We'll not buy from another "unknown" ebayer.

Have you looked at Peachick's birds? I don't know if she has what you want or not, as I am not that familiar with Marans. However, I have gotten some Wheaten Ameraucanas from her and they are lovely and healthy.

Hi, I have purchased eggs from ebay. Alot. Most came safe and after candling most were viable.

Also have purchased from Thom Dean. Cochins. All came safe but have not hatched yet. Out of 8 eggs (2 extras) 7 are viable.

I bought some right from this site from Blueroo. Hers are incubating now. Nice color, packaged well. Thanks Blueroo. 3 did break but considering she send 4 extras and she did package them well that is the chance you take with the post office.

Also buffalomo1 sent 11 eggs all beauties (I was supposed to get 6) 8 are viable and incubating

weezzers sent 10 and I ordered 6 all beauties -- 8 are viable

The above stock is supposed to be from very good lines.

I'm due to lock down on my 4 remining eggs out of 17 tomarrow so we will see if I get anything. But I did order a dozen BCM from Ruth who purchased Maran Kings flock on here and requested shipping for monday so I will have a free incubator after the eggs get here and sit for 24 hours.... if anything hatches from what I have now.

A person can't got wrong with Thom's eggs. But remember all US BC's lines are still a work in process. But with Thom's you are a few steps ahead.
Good Luck

Update on eBay eggs: I ordered Thom Deans eggs, 6 Black Copper and 6 Blue Cochin. They have now hatched. I have 2 blue cochin chicks (one is real nice and very fuzzy), and 5 BC chicks. The eggs were large, and darker than most I've gotten from other sources. I received an PIP form, also the only one I've ever gotten from shipped eggs. Fast shipping and 5 of 6 hatch rate on BC's. 3 of the cochins did not develop at all, 1 was a quitter.
