The real ones, that is. I know EEs are supposed to lay well, but if I go to a breeder and get honest-to-goodness Ameraucanas, can I expect lots of eggs--or just extra-special eggs??

I can only speak for my two Ameraucana girls. They have only been laying a couple of months but they rarely miss a day! They are some of the best layers I have right now. I'm very impressed with Charlotte and Silver so far. It's been cold here, too, and they do not have heat or extra light in their coop, either. I won't know till later, obviously, if they keep it up all winter long, but right now, I definitely am pleased with them.

Well, my friend Lynn sent me hatching eggs from hers, but she no longer has the rooster. I did keep a cockerel so I do sell hatching eggs from my trio, if you want to go that route. Scout is black and the two girls are blue so chicks can be black or blue. Scout's mother wasn't show quality like his sire and had a "wild gene" in her background somewhere, so his first son I hatched has some interesting gold patterns in his black feathers, but the other two are solid black so far like they should be. They have wonderful temperament as well. Below are mine. Jody here raises bantam Buff Ameraucanas.

they're beautiful! But I just want two, and they must be hens.

I don't know what I'd doo if I hatched a roo (or two).

(I must be under the influence of Dr. Seuss this morning)
