How well do your Swedish fly?

I've been told and have read many places that most domesticated ducks don't fly; some will fly a short distance when they are young but once they start putting on adult weight they are just too heavy. Mallard-type and call ducks will fly, the only big ducks I'm aware of that will fly are Muscovies. I don't have ducks yet but will be getting some black and maybe some blue Swedes this spring.

Loreen is right.

Muscovies can fly. Khakis, runners, welsh harlequins, buffs, etc... fly like bricks

Bantams usually fly...but I don't think silkie ducks do. Not sure on that one though.

That is good to know. My hubby thinks our ducks are going to get up and fly away one day.

I told him I don't think they can fly very well and they don't migrate.
