how well do

I don't know any specifics for the RIR breed, but I know in general that heritage breed do not lay as well as production breeds. After all, that is why they are call "production."

I believe heritage types lay around 220-250 eggs per year, someone correct me if I'm wrong, while Production Reds lay over 300 per year. Although as the years progress, the Production layers' numbers decrease faster than the heritage type.
