HOW WILL I KNOW????? I am excited but a bit lost.

That was a good idea to call the hatchery, after all they should know what they are talking about. I have only been nurse maid to a setting goose once, so I am no expert. Your goose sure has been sitting on a lot of eggs. I wonder if she was able to keep them all warm enough to develop. I know it is hard when people say let nature take its course, which really means we have no control over the process.

Well Thank you scratch'n'peck....for staying with me during this process but I think she might be done. I went out there this morning and found the goose, gander, and gosling outside in the run. I HAD to intervene which ****** them off but I had to snatch the gosling while avoiding getting got by them. They backed me into a corner by the gate and I am disabled so it was HARD to get out of gate with one hand but I did it. They were HOT. But I had to help because the ramp that leads in and out to the run the gosling cannot get up and it is getting ready to rain. They went back inside the coop and when I came back out they heard the gosling and started talking again. I opened the door and with the gander having a hissing fit and set down the gosling. She checked the gosling than her and the gosling walked back around the corner to her nest. Since she left the nest I think she might be finished hatching. Failed clutch. 17 eggs and ONE gosling. I might cry.

I'm so sorry, but 1 is still better than none. sounds like they are going to make awesome parents too. and get the ramp fixed.

Aw, I don't think it would hurt to give it the full five days as the hatchery said. Your goose is still pretty new at this and she did better than last year when she abandoned the nest. Follow your goose mama's lead - she focuses on the gosling that hatched and doesn't dwell too much on the ones who did not. That allows her to do the best that she can under the circumstances she is given.

I have found that using a stick or rake like a shepherd's staff helps with geese sometimes. You can heard them in a certain direction and also keep them at bay when you need to. Although it might make Mr. Gander hiss even more.
