Hi! I just got a call that a guy is moving to an area that doesn't allow chickens. He has 2 RIR and 3 Black sex-linked. He got them last spring as chicks. We have 1 EE, 2RIR, 2 leghorns, 1 Black Australorp, 1 BR all of which we got as chicks this spring. If we took them in, how hard/long does it take for them to form a new flock, is there too much stress to be worth it? Not really sure I want to take it on, but wondering what it would entail. Thanks for your expertise!

Louieandthecrew I am actually a female!

It wouldn't be very hard to make them into one flock... I just added two 3 month old chicks to my flock (1 yr 3 month old RIR Rooster, almost 1 yr. old Red Star Hen, three 6 or 7 month old hens : BR, Welsummer and Delaware) and the flock just minds their own business and doesn't really care so... I think it would be fine to fgo ahead and put them together!

If they are cooped, very hard. Freerange, easy.
