How would I attach hardware cloth to chain link?

The heavy duty, UV resistant cable ties work great (if not UV resistant they crumble after a year or so). We use them for the welded wire fencing and they are perfectly adequate (70+ Lb. lab did the quality assurance testing - tried to get at turkeys...). Three years, so far, and no `erosion'/crumbling.

Just a tip on the hardware cloth, in case anyone has trouble straightening it. When you unroll hardware cloth to straighten it, you unroll it so it's making an arch, before it's straightened out. Then you need to walk on it, to get it to go flat.

The roll is turned upside down from the way you would have a roll of paper placed, to unroll it. I usually let the cut edge kind of dig into the ground and grass a bit, unroll some and flatten it, unroll some more and flatten it, etc.

It's easier to unroll the other way, but then it doesn't straighten out very well and just springs back up.

In the past, we've used J-clips, hog rings and zip ties when working with wire. They all work. DH loves zip ties. Zip ties, wood screws and duct tape are three of his favorite things in life.
