I sold 5 Black Copper Chicks on eggbid. The auction was over on the 24th. The buyer emailed me and asked me to please contact him with payment details and etc. So, I emailed him back and said he needed to pay the auction amount now via paypal and not to worry about the shipping and box now as he is in Montana and I can not ship them to him until the P.O. clears shippment. All of this was stated in the auction as well (chicks would not ship at all until last of January when they were older and a little less fragile and that shipping dates would be up to the P.O. If that was not agreeable then don't bid)
I did not hear back from the bidder. So, I then sent a paypal request for the just the auction winning bid. Still no reply.

I really needed the money or else would not have sold them anyhow. I'm a little irritated at this point.
I have told someone else that if he does not reply by Monday I would sell the chicks to them. Is this fair? What do you think?

I do think that's fair. It's not fair of him to bid on them and not pay you. Unless some sort of emergency has arisen, in which case he should have at least contacted you and told you so.

If he is not responding then it's perfectly normal and fair to sell them to someone else. If you can wait until Monday that is very generous of you as it's possible that something happened in his life that has taken his attention (for example he could have been in an accident or someone in his family passed away suddenly... things happen). Certainly by Monday you should sell them to someone else.

I don't know how eggbid works but on e-bay you always write a positive or negative comment on sellers AND buyers so other people know if someone has a history of not following through.

Also, in the future you should put in your auction that payment must be made by a certain date or you will sell to someone else.

Might be wise in future auctions to say...payment must received within 48 hours of auction ending......no payment then goes to next highest bidder...

I think you should re-sell to whoever next wanted them and forget about the buyer who has not paid.

Hi honey... Monday is fair. He may be outta town for the holiday, so it may be worth it to wait until then. That is a long way for babies to travel

Most people only wait 3 days for payment, so that is totally acceptable IMHO

Go ahead and sell them to someone else. If every thing was stated clearly in the description, it is his responsibility to let you know if there is a problem. Even if his P/C went out, and I had this happen to me when I had won something on e bay, I borrowed a P/C to contact and explain the problem.Keep all your e mails for a paper trail if he tries to complain. marrie

I think you ought to give him the benefit of the doubt and wait until Monday. It is Christmas weekend and he may be away - things like that happen! Wait til mid-day Monday and if you still haven't heard anything then sell them to the next person.
