How would you rate my birds size progress?

So there isn't really a way to stretch the feed bill? Here in COL. the starter and grower are the same price.

Just feed them less. Right now they should be eating about 6 oz each per day. You don't have to keep feed in front them at all times. You will find that raising your own isn't cheaper than buying them at the store.

Sadly this is true. I know people that reliably get it done for 1.50/lb. Not counting their own personal labor, time spent raising, feeding, watering, moving the tractor, processing etc;

I think it's more about the "personal satisfaction" of knowing where your animal comes from. Factory farmer floor laying in it's own waste, or out on pasture in your personal chicken tractor (or however you're raising them).

I always give free choice for the first 4 weeks anyway. Seams like they eat more some days than others. I will start restricting food this time at 4 weeks old.

I did not do it last time and they sat at the feeder all night eating. I lost a few due to heart failure.
Hopefully I will lose none this time.

I don't raise them to save money. If I wanted to save money I would buy grocery store birds. I do it because I like to and I love the finished product. It is nice to know you are eating something that you raised yourself.
