How would you rate these birds? Ameraucana roos

I thought I'd just remind you to not forget about the genetics of the BBS when you are deciding which one to keep. Especially with regard to the Splash.

Also, I wanted to compliment you on your BW rooster. His body appears to be just a little dark and I see a little striping in the hackles but you have got one there with lighter hackles which is hard to find and what we're all striving for.

God Bless,

If you want more blue birds the first post is a nice combo.

But if you want whe wheaten blue color do the splash and wheaten blue combo..

The offspring should be this if mated to the blue hen. wheaten, Blue wheaten, and assorted splash where the boys should look similar to red pile males... 1:2:1

with black hens offspring should be half wheaten and wheaten Blue. 1:1

Another good combo

I'm not quite sure what you're saying but you can't get a WBS from a BBS. Here are the genetics for the WBS:

Wheaten x Wheaten = 100% Wheaten
Wheaten x Blue Wheaten = 50% Wheaten & 50% Blue Wheaten
Wheaten x Splash Wheaten = 100% Blue Wheaten
Blue Wheaten x Blue Wheaten= 50% Blue Wheaten, 25% Wheaten, 25% Splash Wheaten
Splash Wheaten x Splash Wheaten = 100& Splash Wheaten
Splash Wheaten x Blue Wheaten = 50% Splash Wheaten & 50% Blue Wheaten

God Bless,

As you know, I'm partial to blues. Mine also is a bit slow in maturing, but I can't wait till June or July. (I just hope he is a soft crower)

Also, ALL OF THEM are beautiful. You really have a tuff choice.

Thank you for the input

BTW.... My Ameraucanas are ones I hatched from Pips & Peeps eggs in case anyone is looking for any hatching eggs

Not sure what her wait list is looking like.... but I was very happy with the eggs I got

Here's some better pics of that BW...... I really would like to find a program he fits into this year as he's a rather nice roo and so far with a good temperament. That's why I figure if nothing else I'll keep him for my EEs until I can get some more Wheatons or Blue Wheatons. I picked up some EE chicks at the feed store for him and I have one hen right now. I might also get some brown eggers to maybe make some olive eggers from him also. I'm still trying to figure out who's going to go where

He still looks good. I'm guessing he's young as his beard should turn the same color as his body. Like I said before the body may be a bit dark but pictures aren't a good source for determing color.

Has Jean seen these birds? She lives across the state from me and I hope to be able to get over and see her this year. She's the Western District Director for the ABC now, btw. I do like his hackles and I'd like to know what she did to get such light hackles. I'm not sure about the brown in the tail. I'll have to check the Standard.

All in all, I think he'd be a bird I'd be happy to breed.

God Bless,
