I have only had to clip the wing of two chickens over the years. They were flyers! They finally followed the flock, and I never had to do it again.

I'd worry less about them getting over the fence, than the thought of predators getting a free lunch.

Welcome to an informative flock...I learn something from members on this site every day. I have had a couple of high-fliers that had to have their wings clipped. You might only clip the escape artists, and the followers will stay put.

I too have never needed to clip my gals wings but then I have chubby little bantams that fly like bricks
