I have decided to cross over from lurking to learning!
I have read (all) the chook house designs for years and kept favourites on file as inspiration, dreaming about maybe one day being able to live my life with chooks again too!?
Here I am now living my dream!
I still shake my head and pinch myself wondering how i got here but i know it IS for real.
I imagined living in the country and surrounding myself with animals would be therapeutic and healing.
I didnt know poo could do that!!

So so far i have 10 chooks ~ 6 months old (6 ISA brown, 4 RIR) laying 6 eggs/day.
One of the RIR is a roo and just started crowing this week!
I feel like a proud mum - my boy is crowing, and my resolve to not have a roo is faltering...

I also care for Annabel and The Earl-2 alpacas.
Hoping Annabel has a cria from "Smokey Joe" next year after her disappointment this year

Shaun the sheep-an orphan lamb i am still bottle feeding once a day now.
Shaun has great curiosity and spunk and very definitely didnt want to miss out on this life!
Gypsy (12yo Tenterfield blind with cataracts), Bluegum (4yo whippet), Magpie (6mo greyhound puppy).

I am also living surrounded by many sometimes visiting magpies, crows, galahs, kookaburras, owls, hawks, kurrajongs, kangaroos, flies, mosquitoes, ants, spiders, mice, moths, praying mantis, frogs, a peahen, and neighbouring sheep, horses, and cows.
So far NO snakes.

I will post photos of my chook journey soon and i look forward to showing off my chook shed too.

Here are my first 3 eggs.
They started at ~42g.
One day one of the girls squeezed out a ~90g OUCH...!!
This was a very hot day last summer (~40°) they all crowded under a plum tree. I was hosing down any under shade dirt to help them survive the heat during the day.
