Howdy from central florida!

I saw a YouTube video where they installed misters in their run due to the FL heat. Is that something common or someone just trying something?
We've never had a need for misters even during the hottest part of summer. Our run is in shade and covered with a heavy duty tarp which serves as a roof that blocks the sun. They get sun as it rises and sets at various angles throughout the day so the run is in part sun and part shade for their area. We manage through the grueling triple digits by replacing the water a couple of times a day and providing cold treats, i.e., watermelon, greens like lettuce, kale, spinach, and blueberries. As everything dries up during the heat and the grass turns to dry straw bugs and greens become scarce. We also have a hanging box fan that runs 24x7 or as needed in the run plus a small fan in the coop to keep the stagnant air moving. We tried putting a shallow pan of water for them to stand in and cool off but they always end up drinking from it instead and getting it mucky while scratching.

That's the color we ended up choosing! Just got the second coat on last night. It looks really nice! Predator skirt has been installed! The prevailing breeze usually blows across the coop from nest boxes to run.

I'm really glad we didn't end up going with our first plan because it would've put everything right in the sun for most of the day. The coop doesn't get direct sunlight until about 5pm. A lot of people in arid regions use misters. I do not as my climate, while very hot, is humid. I put out wading pools for them to stand in and make mud puddles. They seem to enjoy that.
