Hey there fellow poultry lovers! I’m Sam. I do all the “home” things. Homemaking, homesteading, and homeschooling. My family and I live on a small farm in South Georgia. We raise about 80% of the food we eat on our two acres. Currently we have a family milk cow named Maggie, a small flock of chickens, a handful of quail, and three very helpful border collies.
I’ve only recently become passionate about raising chickens and quail. I’ve kept chickens for several years but mostly for the eggs. It wasn’t until we brought home our trio of English Jubilee Orpingtons that I really started to love chickens. These three are so beautiful and calm, I want a whole yard full. I think quail are probably my favorite birds, though. I am obsessed with the noises they make and they dainty little eggs.
The main reasons I joined BYC (aside from having some like minded crazy chicken friends) are to learn the best breeding and care practices for my flocks and to buy/sell hatching eggs. Below I’ve starched some pictures from our farm. Our newly built coop, Jubilee trio, and my favorite Coturnix roo.
I look forward to making connections and learning lots!
