Hey all, my name is Todd, and I am addicted to my backyard birds! About forty so far, and i just want more. Weird, but true. New chicks hatching as I type in the incubator. How long should they stay in the incubator?

Hello

and Welcome to BYC!
No, wanting more then forty is not weird! Chickens are very addicting. Check out the learning center for information about hatching and raising chicks. Good luck with your flock!

Congratulations on the eggs hatching! You can leave chicks in the incubator until they're mostly dry and fluffy, usually 24-48 hours.

We're glad to have you.

I usually leave my chicks in the incubator for about 24 hours after they hatch.

Welcome to BYC, Todd. Glad you decided to join our flock. Very few BYC members are immune to "chicken math." :o) Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your hatch.

Glad you joined us.

You have already received answers to your question, but if you do have other concerns in your hatch, post in the incubating and hatching forum - you'll get more input there.
