Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. Just a tip that could save you some heartache later on; you should replace or at least cover that chicken wire on your coop with hardware cloth. There are too many predators that can tear through chicken wire, or squeeze through the openings in the mesh. Using hardware cloth will be a little extra expense, but it's cheaper than replacing your flock. Hardware cloth has saved many chicken owners a lot of tears. You're welcome. Snakes are one of those predators that can squeeze through the openings in the chicken wire. Rats, weasels, and minks can as well.

Michael took the words right out of my mouth. HARDWARE CLOTH. In fact in case of baby snakes maybe you should go with 1/4" hardware cloth. I would since you wouldn't need much to do the job. Welcome to BYC.
