Howdy from NE Oklahoma!

Been around chickens and guineas for years (and years), but havent had a flock for a few years...
Just got back into it a while back...
Have been a lurker around on this site for quite a while...
Then recently heard about this site again from another forum I frequent http://www.survivalistboards.com/
So
, here I am!!

Built a new coop with open (mesh) sides on the north and south and a wire floor...
Got a dozen straight run 6 week old Buffs and Barred Rocks from a gentleman down the road...
Also brought 9 two week old guinea keets home too... Put them in separate brooders... side by side so they could get "acquainted"...
Found out that 7 of the dozen straight runs were roos...
Put the whole group in the coop as one big happy family... except the roos... Most of them are headed for the freezer... 2 will probably make "the cut"...
Just last week got 10 more 12 week olds from the same gentleman... More Buffs and Barred Rocks with a few crosses and a couple Dorking... Hand picked these, so should be mostly hens this time...

The chickens and guineas compliment one of my other hobbies... Gardening!

Karl

Hello and welcome to BYC! Sounds about right with the straight run. Some people on here have bad luck and took home 90% or more of cockerels. I was lucky and brought home all pullets from the straight run bin.
