Howdy From Oregon.

I am a 79 year old retired heavy equipment operator from Oregon.
I spent most of my career building logging roads with a D8 dozer for a local saw mill
When I retired I got interested in gardening and it is one of my favorite hobbies.
My wife and grand daughter wanted chickens.
I didn't want to go to the effort of building a chicken coop and fence.
My grand son found a free small " grange" style coop and brought it over.
I bought 6 chicks of different breeds and wound up with only 2 surviving due to mishaps predation, ect.
We now only have the 2 RI Reds.
The predation issue a very real one as we live on 10 acres of country property with the passing coyote.
With the eggs we get and the fun of just having them around has convinced me to build a fenced chicken pen.
Is it just me, or do the chickens each have their own personality?
Oh, they very much have their own personalities, and preferences. I agree they are so much fun. I love to sit and watch them scratch and peck. I will laugh because it's just something that tickles me. 🤷‍♀️🐥Welcome to BYC. You are in a great place. Lots to learn and read here. Many helpful people, that are willing to give advice...
