(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Kinda. I grew up with chickens, actually on a chicken farm. BUt these are my first as an an adult.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
12 chicks.
(3) What breeds do you have?
6 americana and 6 cuckoo marans.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love interacting with and taking care of the chickens.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I have a small fish pond with 6 gold fish and lots of water plants.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm 32, born and raised Texan, relocated to Louisiana 3 years ago. I have a husband, 3 kids age 8 boy, 4 girl, and 4month boy. We have a 50lb mutt, 10 years old. We found him in San Antonio, in a gutter and his name is... Gutter. We DNA tested him and he is equal parts shar-pei, chow, rottweiler and akita. We live on a largish piece of land with my parents, about 40ish mins from New Orleans. Also we have a 2 year old sulcata tortoise.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found this place googling for information before we got our chicks. About 6 months ago. We have our chicks now and I wanted to interact with yall. Also I'm hoping some of yall might be nearby.
