New chicken mom here! What began as my son’s 4-H project has quickly become my new love.. the flock.. our 10 week old 6 buff Orpingtons and 1 black australorp. How did I spend most of my life not knowing chickens were so sweet? 🐓🐥❤️

Welcome. I think many of us were very surprised that we would fall in love with chickens.

Greetings & Salutations. Welcome.

I too did not know how much I would like them. Our neighbor lent us her bantam silkie and gave us 6 eggs, then as only 2-3 looked fertilized, she lent us her other silkie with 6-7 more eggs. From both, we had 7 hatch. I waited until the spring of '24 to purchase more and have her broody set again. As you, I waited to learn more. Now, I want a third coop. 🤣

My wife tried to get me to get them years ago! Yet another time I should have listened! 😵
