Good afternoon. I have 5 hens, 2 roosters, and eight 2 week old chicks. I have been raising chickens for only a year, but I find it very enjoyable, and I consider my chickens part of my family.
My hens are molting- I think - but one in particular has been since she was about 6 months old. She has never laid, and she is now almost a year old, still molting in some areas, but COMPLETELY bald on her back and wings. I hope I don't have to cull her. Other than that, things are great!

Hello and welcome from Ohio....so glad you joined BYC. Hope your little bald hen gets better

Thanks!! It breaks my heart to see her bald. Have a great day!!!! :)

Hi from KY! I hope she is only molting!!

Me too!! We've inspected her and see no mites or lice, but I don't know...my other hens are starting to lose feathers on their backs; it's the same way my bald hen started. :(

Thanks muttsfan!!!

Oldguy43: I am in Wilson County. Sorry my pic was poor (did it even show up?)She is very guarded -I don't blame her- so it's difficult to get a great picture, but I will definitely try. I was just hoping someone had gone through this, and had a good outcome.
