The Ramblin' H is located on 7 acres in south central Kansas. We settled here not quite a year ago. Needless to say, I'm a newbie Chickeneer...
My chicks (Delaware, Speckled Sussex, Dominique & Buff Orpingtons) should arrive end of this month. We are busy spiffing up the coop (lean-to on our old barn) and setting up our brooder (supplies borrowed from my mother).
We have high hopes that homesteading is in our blood as both our families were among those that helped settle the Kansas prairie in the late 1800s...
Also, I have recently purchased a copy of Harvey Ussery's The Small-Scale Poultry Flock and plan on utilizing much of his non-conventional, common-sense approach.
