Hi! Building out our new farm property in Anderson, TX!! We are already running bee hives for our ag exemption. My husband & I got married last year & we are homesteaders at heart. Been busy building bridges, dirt work, & working on foundation currently for a barn & future house! I am not new to chickens but it's been about 10 years since I have had a chance due to work obligations!! The last flock I had before moving for work was quite sizeable & I was hatching 250- 300 chicks each spring (just for selling eggs & pullets.) I kept a flock of anywhere to 100 to 150 chickens of all walks. I ordered Overhatch 27 pullet chicks from Meyer Hatchery on Feb 5th! Little babies are doing well, but I lost 3 that just weren't strong & thriving. They are an assortment bunch of chicks, so some are just so close to multiple breeds as chicks, it's really hard to tell! Guess we will have to wait until they grow up a bit more! My husband built me a little surprise brooder for Valentine's Day! He did such a wonderful job! After my laying hens batch have grown enough to move to the coop, we will be raising some meat birds & the brooder will sure come in handy!! The pictures of the chicks are on Feb.13th (one week old)!
