(1) I'm new to chickens. I got my first chicks this week from TSC.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have 4 chicks.

(3) What breeds do you have?
Two Leghorns and two Plymouth Rocks. All hens.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Google!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I recently started renting a house with plenty of backyard space so my wife and I started a garden. We have corn, carrots, tomatoes, peppers, onions and strawberries planted and growing. I've always wanted chickens but just never had the space for them.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have a wife, a Doberman, and a scraggly little cat I rescued from a gutter as a kitten. I work in commerical vehicle code enforcement. My wife and I would like to own our own homestead in the next few years. I enjoy finding ways to repurpose and recycle old stuff into something useful and I would like to reduce my families overall impact on the environment through sustainability and self reliance.

I'm located in the coastal bend of south Texas.

Here's a picture of the girls!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

Please do check out the Topic of the Week discussions Pork Pie mentioned. I have found these to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining.

Adorable babies! If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of them and/or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
