So my Tuesday was to say the least very exhausting. We have about 4inches of solid ice covering our holler. NOTHING is making it to my house. My birds need food. I'm half a mile (which is all uphill coming back home) up in here. So today I walked out caught a ride to TSC and pulled a wagon with my feed back in. Below is my holler. Solid ice. But my babies needed to eat! West Virginia needs to thaw! A typical 20 min walk took almost an hour.

Oh I don't live in cell phone service. But there's always someone at home that knows if it takes to long to send eyes. We have bobcats and black bears as well as very brave coyotes. I also have ice cleats that slip-on over your shoes. My sister from IL sent us some last year and they are life savers

With those semi friendly pets, I would go to visit my chickens always packing some heat,,, If you know what I mean. 2nd amendment.

So sorry to hear about your predicament. Ohio needs to thaw too but we won't for at least 10 more days. I made my husband aganist his wishes put my pens up next to our house because I did not want to walk far to take care of them and needed a hose to be able to reach them for water. The watering station is full of ice and the pens full of snow but they are still hanging in there with all the frozen poop and such. I have 25 ducks and they have plenty of warm places to go and clean water at least, it's just all frozen where their heated buckets are. Sorry you got so much ice, we got snow and the freezing temps too and the water for their buckets is where my biggest problem is. Be careful you don't fall. I rescued two of my Rouens from a lady that took a bad fall trying to take care of them years ago.

Well luckily my pens aren't to far from my kitchen door. I have all in all about 25chickens. 4 in one house..6 ""babies"" in a cage by my door and the majority are in my newest pen. My mother in law has 8 ducks and I tell ya they all hate this. I watching the news and seen a 50 next week! That's better than winning the lottery.... I have coffee can shaped ice sitting all around my pens. I took their big water out til we get non freezing temperatures. I move slowly that's for sure. My Georgia bones are ready for heat. Lol.
