How's this Blue Silkie Pullet? ~2 Months Old PICS

I have 2 Silkies that look like this and they are Splash Silkies , I bought them from someone that raises Splash Silkies. Looks like a hen, but it might not show the sex till 6 mos. ( if it crows , you'll be wrong) BEST OF LUCK!

I call my girl a lavender silver becouse of her coloring.
And there are actully a lot of Lavenders comeing out.
Of course from breeders mixing colors.

The bird is a splash as a couple of folks have noted.

Lavender silver would probably be the same as lavender & grey combined. Breeders don't just mix colours--they combine birds based upon a desired outcome. Lavender is a very popular colour right now, not just in silkies, but in many breeds. Achieving a quality lavender bird takes a lot of work.

A Splash? But she is solid in color.

There is no definite splash color... no variegation of color at all. She's not from mixed color silkies, but from a BBS breeding flock. I still think she is a blue. We'll see what the judges say in the Fall/Spring.

I was wondering on this too. At a show I went to a lady was showing a splash silkie that appeared like a darker blue to me. Maybe it has to do with the feather base color?

Nice feet and Crest, especially for such a young bird. The photo shows lots of darks in the feathering. It may just be the lighting. I would have said Blue as well but I can see how she could be considered Splash if those dark splotches are turly black.
No matter the color, you have a very nice little pullet there. Congrats.

Genetically, splash carries two copies of blue while blue has one copy of blue and one copy of not-blue.

From the standpoint of appearance, splash has a base colour that is white to slate with random and irregularly shaped dark streaks, or "splashes" throughout the plumage. I certainly see them in your bird, but I suppose it could be shadows from the lighting.

Blues have a darker head and hackle--your bird does not. Do you know if her parents carry lavender? Which colour is each (as best you know) parent?

What colour are the shafts of the feathers in her tail on top and also on the underside of the feather?
