I have never owned a rabbit in my life--well at least a tame one! I have no idea what kind they are or anything. I know we supposedly have 5 females and 2 males but one of the "females" is acting like a male-do they do that? She is the only one that is acting like a male.hmmm. and she looks like the 2 males we bought.

Here are some pics.
Females:

this is the female that acts like a male--the solid white one:

and the males:

The female that is mounting the other females is exhibiting dominance behavior.

Unless it's a male.

Have a good day!

Define "acting male". Female rabbits are the aggressive and dominant ones. Males really don't play a role in the hierarchy of a group of rabbits. It's the females who lay down the rules and get in disagreements. Females of most species of mammal will also display some dominance mounting.

They are really going to all need their own cages. If by acting male you mean mounting females, she is just being dominant. They can be very nasty to each other, to the point of killing one another.

yeah I know they will eventually need their own cages- plans are being made... Hubby was suppossed to only buy 2 but the females were sold as a group and the males were sold as another group. He only spent $20 on the females, and $5 on the males. I guess they had about 50 rabbits at the sale today, and they were auctioning them quick. And yes she is mounting the other females. Thanks for all the replies, like I said I know nothing! lol. But I guess you gotta start somewhere right?
