Oh, that is so awful. I can't believe the state of some of our hospitals. If that were Bill Gates, do you think they'd send him home??? Makes me so MAD.

Please keep us updated -- you'll be in my thoughts today.

So sorry for all you and your family are going thru.
You need to keep going back to the hospital as many times as it takes for someone to diagnose the problem.
They really had no business releasing him with an oxygen level that low.
Our hospital is far from being the best, but they will admit you to run more tests to find an exact cause.

My mother has sleep apnea along with a few other breathing problems and when the weather changes she starts wheezing.....if she has to go to the Dr., they automatically admit her if her oxygen level is below 90.

You're gonna have to get nasty with them.
Take him back as many times as you need to, eventually they'll get the message.
And tell them that he's not going back home.....so they can admit him and find out what the problem is or, if they can't do that, they better send him somewhere that can.

I hope by now you are getting the help he needs. Don't forget to tell the doctors that you just had strep-it is highly contagious. My DH was just in the hospital because of a series of infections (tooth, flu, strep). We could have lost him. There maybe something going on with his heart that was hidden before that if he has gotten the strep it could have aggrevated it. By the way, strep doesn't have to be a sore throat either. It can show itself in many ways.

Be persistant, get into their faces, threaten them with a lawsuit (right to their face) if that's what it takes. My brother had an accident several years ago and while at home was in severe pain. His wife took him to the ER and the doc said there was nothing wrong it was all in his head and sent him home. A couple of hours later they went back and the shift had changed. New doc was ticked. In the x-ray they took to check his bowel the bladder was full. My brother had a catherer at the time and the tube was plugged.

Good luck!

I don't have anything additional to add that others haven't already imparted to you, but I'll share my thoughts anyway.

Return to the ER, via ambulance. Just call 911, sometimes the paramedics can get a message across that patients cannot, for some stupid reason.

Also, as a patient, we ALL have the right to request that our primary care physician or any other physician be called in to consult on our case. Sometimes, ER docs work 24 hours shifts. It's possible Dr. Dumb Dumb is gone/leaving by now and you will get a more responsible doc this time.

Good luck to you and your husband. I'll keep you in my thoughts today.

i am so sorry. what a frightening thing to have to endure. my thoughts are with you and your husband.

I'm really hoping that you are NOT reading my post and following folks advice here and have already called 911. If not, GO! GO! GO! Your DH's tissues may not be getting enough oxygen!!! Go by ambulance so that the EMTs can give oxygen along the way!

)#*$!! Makes me so mad, I can't see straight! What were they thinking??! They never should have sent him home in that condition! You might consider calling a lawyer from the ER. In fact, keeping calling until you find both a good doctor and a good lawyer. Come to think of it, ask the lawyer who they'd go to.

I wouldn't threaten to sue, myself... I'd let the lawyer do that for me. I wouldn't hide the fact that I'm calling my lawyer. I would suggest writing down names and even statements as I went. If the hospital is publicly funded, then you might consider calling your state representative too (i did this once for a non-emergency screw-up and it worked very well... but we had a really good state rep).

But get to the ER now! Get him treated! Good luck. Our prayers are with you.

AatE is right. Never threaten, especially physical harm or even legal reprisal. Stay calm, but be firm.

No one was ever arrested for calling an advocate or legal counsel.

He should have been admitted not sent home! I swear some hospitals are death traps! My father went thru this all the time when he was ill. He one Dr let him suffer all night and wouldn't return his nurses calls. His colon burst! He almost died.
I so hope you are getting the help you need.
You should have called his family Dr for an emergency call. They all have some kind of emergency proto call.
Make sure you inform your Dr about this also, he may ream someone out for you.
Please update us as soon as you can, we are worried. I will keep you in my prayers.
