I have 2 brooders in my (very dusty) house

One is currently holding 41 chicks and 4 ducklings. The other is now holding 7 banties,6 BB's, and 6 "mystery chicks" from TSC.I was supposed to only have 20 total

My husband is cool with my addiction. I had 12 in my living room in two different things. 3-4 week olds in a dog crate and 2 week olds in brooder box. He is fine as long as he can watch tv and still hear it lol. The 3-4 week olds were getting awful loud and he said to me the other day, "we need to do something about these chicks, their loud and I cant take it anymore!" So I moved the 3-4 weeks outside in my chick area while he was at work the next day. Then he comes home and says.."where's the chicks? " I told him outside in the coop and he said "well you didnt have to move them outside. "

Thats ok the dust was not attractive anymore and the younger ones needed more space anyway lol.

I was actually planning on building an outdoor brooder box. Then, completely out of the blue, the DW says "I'm sort of excited to having some chicks in a box in the bathroom again." Last May she was all like "no more chicks in the house, ever!" She really misses flight practice on the kitchen floor.

Ha. My wife is the stern one. Yesterday we were setting up a 3' x 8' water trough to move the fuzzy butts to in the garage. She wasn't wild about it at first but I talked her into moving it into the den because it was too cold.

She's loving it now though. We have to go to TSC today so hopefully I'll be able to exercise some self control. Wish me luck.

Yup, me too. It's my wife that is 100% against any indoor brooding, and I agree. Out in the barn or out in the garage. Ambient temps got as low as 15 the other night, but not an issue. I can easily keep the "circle of warmth" at 80-85 and they are just fine. Cannot heat the barn, nor the garage, just heat the chicks.
