Hello, my wife and I have been raising chickens for about a year now and are looking to allow “Chicken Math” to do its thing. However, after doing research on feed and loving the responses (especially from @U_Stormcrow) which have beyond helpful. However, I was wondering if anyone uses or has used Hudson Feeds by Republic Mills? They have many high CP options available with a good Lysine and Methionine percentages with reasonable prices. After looking there I’m curious as to whether or not it would be a good option (being so new to raising chickens I need Veteran Chicken experience and help). Below is the link to the feed mentioned:

I haven't used them, but you are right, good numbers.

I see their coccidiastat is monensin - more popular in the EU than here in the US. Works well, if you need it. Its an ionophore, rather than a thiamine antagonist, and affects the sodium pathways. Beyond that, I can't explain how it works, except to say that its effective.

Also, thank you for the hat tip. 🎓 Honestly, I don't know anything (about feeding chickens) you couldn't learn for yourself with a few weekend's reading. Maybe several weekends. Certainly less than a Livestock feeding 101 course. But glad my comments have been useful to you.

Have you tried asking in the Ohio thread? Looks like they are local to that area...
