Hudson Valley NY *chat thread*

Is it as difficult as it seems to get everybody used to each other? I'm a lil intimidated! I'm not getting any new chicks anytime soon but eventually I'm going to have to introduce a newbie or two to the old biddies! Aack! :barnie

It can be..all depends on your chickens...
When you introduce new chicks, your messing up the pecking order..so they have to show the newbies who is boss.
My 7 year old hen picks on the silkies the most but thats because she is top hen.

That's good! Allergic reactions are scary..especially if they come out of nowhere. Over the past few years I've developed an allergy that I only get in Autumn. For a few weeks I break out in hives and the ITCH is a killer. I always wind up in the ER during these flare-ups. They give me a shot and it goes away until the following year but every once in awhile I'll get a minor episode but it doesn't last as long as it does in Autumn. So weird, but in the throes of it, I'm beside myself. It drives me insane. I'm also allergic to some tree nuts so I have to watch what I eat. Anyway..be careful! Keep Benadryl or an epi pen w/you if you can.

My day is going well, thanks! And yours??

Wow thats strange! The doctors dont know what causes the flare ups?
I have a couple epi pens...last time i got stung on my hand by a wasp my hole arm swelled up..so the doctor told me its only going to get worse and gave me the epi pens. Its so weird how im not allergic my hole life, then one day i am!
My days been pretty good! The weather is beautiful , so im trying to spend most of my time outside..but iv been neglecting my house lol i have tons of laundry to put away lmao.

It's very strange. I was tested to see if it was liver or thyroid related but the results were negative so it's idiopathic. The weirdest thing is that wherever I scratch, I get hives/welts so in an itching stupor, I can write my name or draw something (i.e. on my arm) and whatever I write or draw, blows up into hives...cheaper and less painful/permanent than a tattoo! lol I was never allergic to anything either but as I got older I started getting symptoms...mostly seasonal but I can handle those. It's the food allergies that scare me. I've avoided walnuts and stone fruits for years but if I forget to ask if something is made with nuts I could get in trouble. I don't have an epi pen. Thankfully my DH remembers to ask! The allergy started when I was in my teens/20's but like you, I was told it will get worse and it has. In your case, it's hard to avoid bug bites so be careful !!

It was quite a beautiful day...I didn't get a thing done this afternoon except for the little "deal" I made with DoubleC in the Quick Check parking lot! We traded eggs and Sambuca

Bada$$es!

The coop needs to be cleaned out sooooo badly. And Re: laundry....I can't keep up with it. I've tried !! There's a pile of my son's clothes that I folded Sunday still in a basket on my bedroom floor. Yup..I'll get to it...Tomorrow lol

Ahh...I think that I made out much better on that deal! Hmm, who's gonna get who hooked? (whom? >.< )Lol I was a tad disappointed that we didn't get to see a clip of ourselves on the evening news. Two bad mammajammos. Hahaha
Umm, I feel like I have to make a confession here ....all of this talk of laundry had me feeling guilty .... See, my hubby does the laundry. He's retired from the City of Newburgh PD (medical). Hey, whatever makes him happy.lol We almost have the shrinking, wrinkling and color bleeding issues under control. Catch ya later, Peeps!
