Hudson Valley NY *chat thread*

OH Lexi~ They're beautiful !!!

Now that I've seen your lavenders, I'm sure mine is a blue orpington. I tried to post a picture of him last night but it wouldn't upload. He's darker greyish blue. IF he's a HE. He was born around 4/18 and he's not crowing yet. Shouldn't he be by now??

my rooster was about 5 months when he started, and it was all broken up like a teenage boy. It took quite a bit for him yo finally get all the notes out : )

LOL Cute! Now I can't wait to hear the squeaky/hoarse adolescent crowing. Reminds me of that Brady Bunch episode where Peter's voice was changing!

Thanks Lexi! lol I can't post pictures from my work computer. The toolbar isn't showing :-( But I will definitely post one when I get home! DH sent me a picture; the egg is small...not much bigger than the golfball we put t in the nesting boxes. We're not sure who laid it. I have a silkie but I know the first egg can be small no matter who laid it so it could have been any one of them. He said the shell is hard. I haven't started them on layer feed yet...just finished the last of the grower feed so I was happy to hear that. I'm SOOO excited! I'm running around showing off a picture of an egg on my cell phone. What a DORK !!!

Silkies are great broodies!!! If she ever goes broody and you want to hatch some chicks, just let me know! Ill give you acouple eggs to put under her!
Now you just have to find out who laided it!! What color is the egg?

Thanks~ I may take you up on that offer. I definitely want to try hatching eventually. I'll know if she goes broody if she sits on eggs and won't move, right? The egg was brown...not much bigger than a golf ball.
