Our trip was great. The weather on the days @ sea was rainy at times but we had plenty of things to do on the ship. Otherwise it was in the 80's and sunny in Florida, and both days in the Bahamas. The kids didn't drive us too crazy, thankfully. I missed The Ladies! lol...couldn't believe how big they got! Their voices changed, too. They're clucking* more instead of peeping*.

Back to work today and I'm less than thrilled.

Double C, your coop looks great.

Lexi, what's hatching?? How is the sand working out in your run?

Glad to hear your trip went well, and that your chickens are all good!!! I have Silver Laced Wyandottes and Silver spangled Hamburgs that hatched last nice! All eggs hatched with no problems with my new incubator!!
And the sand in the run is amazing! Best thing i ever did. It dosnt get muddy when it rains and looks 1000 times cleaner! Everyone should have sand!! My next step will be putting it in the coop. But i still have tons of hay left so it wont be anytime soon.

Ohhh I'm definitely going to get sand. We have to make some coop adjustments before we do anything else. When my husband built the coop he hung the feeder and waterer from a chain under the roosting bar and they're getting majorly pooped on so he's going to build a poop board. Before we went away he had to change the door leading from the coop into the run. He originally put a sliding plexiglass window there and the pine shavings got caught in the track which made it really hard to open & close so he made a regular door. We also need to get the vegetable garden started AND I need mulch for the flower gardens. If I ask him to get me a load of sand he will surely have a cow lol There's too much to do.

SO glad the incubator is working well! I have a Silver Laced Wyandotte. She's a sweetie. I don't think I've ever seen a Silver Spangled Hamburg...will have to look that one up. You have quite a few babies now, don't you...? That blue Orpington we got in Connecticut in April is definitely a rooster. DH caught him trying to jump the black Orpington. I don't want to get rid of him but I don't want him to aggravate my oh-so-unfriendly neighbors either. Aack!

One thing iv learned, its all trial and error! I use to feed them in the coop, but they would never come out and i always had poop in/on the feeder! I stopped using the hanging feeders and now use a little chicken trough and they get fed in the run. No more poop in the feed and they dont waste as much feed.
I have some pics of my Hamburg breeders!!

I have a cage in the livingroom with older chicks and a cage in tue spare room with 1-3 days olds. The BF dosnt like the chicks in the house, but OH well!!

Hi Girls...Lexi and Lisa!!! Lol I should be able to remember that! Although, I think we'll need to limit our group to only people whose names start with L. Then again, as that we aren't really drawing them in, we shouldn't be too choosy.
Glad to hear you had a great trip, Lisa!
Ooo...babies, Lexi? How cool is that?!!
Now I have to go and read about sand... I haven't heard about it. Is it expensive? I think I definitely have more plans and ideas than I have money (have to get my garden in yet too).
Lisa what is your daughters last name? I'm curious to see if either of my older kids know her.
Okay...catch y'all soon! Oh, and I need the rain to go away so I can stop being the weirdladythatsitswithanumbrella ...staring at her chickens and ducks.
Laura

Ah...sunshine....today I an She-who-sits-without-umbrella...... and stares at her chickens and ducks. Not much of a step up, really...but eh..works for me.
